Emirates A380 flights return to Birmingham
Emirates has resumed A380 flights to Birmingham Airport, the first since March 2020.
The reactivated superjumbo service adds much-needed capacity on the Birmingham – Dubai route.
Flight EK039 touched down in Birmingham at the weekend.
The A380 Birmingham flights resumption comes shortly after the A380 daily service returned to Glasgow in March.
Emirates currently has more than 80 Airbus A380 jets in active service.
It first launched A380 operations to Birmingham in 2016.
Richard Jewsbury, Emirates UK VP, said: “We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Birmingham Airport and our ongoing commitments to the wider Midlands region.”
By the end of this summer, the A380 will be serving almost 50 destinations.
The airline also plans to ramp up its four-class A380 operations featuring Premium Economy cabins to more than 35 destinations across 20 countries by March 2024.
Under the airline’s US$2 billion retrofit program, Emirates has completely refurbished 12 of its A380 aircraft, featuring the Premium Economy cabin.
Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport, said: “The extra capacity offered by the A380 will be welcomed by Emirates customers.”
Emirates A380 key features include the Onboard Lounge and first class shower spa.
