Emirates sees Dubai bookings double as travel corridor boosts UK confidence

Middle Eastern carrier Emirates says British passenger bookings to Dubai have more than doubled since the United Arab Emirates was added to the government’s travel corridor list 10 days ago.

In addition, with consumer confidence given a further boost following recent news about the progress of Covid-19 vaccines, the airline has also seen booking increases of more than 50% week-on-week for Cape Town, Durban and Bangkok, with the Maldives seeing greater demand too.

In response to the uptick in demand, Emirates will introduce 15 additional weekly flights to the UK – bringing the total number of weekly flights to 52 in December.

Emirates’ A380 aircraft will fly four times a day to Heathrow, whilst services to Manchester will increase to 10 flights per week – of which six will be served by an Emirates A380. Emirates will also increase operations to Birmingham and Glasgow by introducing a daily service to both cities.

Under the air travel corridor between UK and UAE, travellers entering the UK from the UAE will no longer be required to quarantine for 14 days upon return.

UK travellers heading to Dubai can opt to do their required Covid-19 PCR tests 96 hours in advance of their flight, or to do the test on arrival in Dubai, adding to the ease of travel.

For all bookings made from 1 December, Emirates had added free multi-risk travel cover on top of its current Covid-19 cover.
