Finalists in the 2010 Enjoy England Awards for Excellence have been unveiled, including those for the Sustainable Tourism Award.
The 46 national finalists were selected from more than 100 regional winners submitted by regional tourist boards. These have been assessed by independent assessors and a team of judges to make it through to the national final.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Corn Exchange at The Brighton Dome on April 23 to mark St George’s Day.
The finalists include a holiday park set in 12 acres of countryside in Cornwall, a farming museum in the West Country, a safari lodge in Kent and Blackpool illuminations.
The sustainable tourism award category has become one of the most popular categories for entrants and this years shortlist includes:
Hunting Hall, ‘A greener farm’ a small, traditional family farm is set in the beautiful countryside of North Northumberland see: www.huntinghall.co.uk/
Bordeaux Quay in Bristol – the UK’s first eco-restaurant to achieve a gold rating under the Soil Association’s sustainable catering scheme see www.travelmole.com/stories/1139815.php and www.bordeaux-quay.co.uk/

This year an extra award has been launched to celebrate those events or experiences that are unique to England.
The “Where Else but England” award is open to the public with regional voting currently taking place. Organisers are calling for people to vote at a regional and national level until April.
A dramatic country home with its own Victorian outdoor theatre, 200 year old converted self-catering cottages in the Peak District and an affordable boutique B&B in Lancaster are in the line up for awards, as are a number of individuals who have been recognised for their outstanding service and contribution to English tourism
Other finalists span a range of attractions, accommodation, tourism experiences, websites and tourist information centres from historical gems such as the authentic Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham and Ripley Castle in Yorkshire, to high-profile attractions such as the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester.
VisitEngland chairman Lady Cobham and chair of the judging panel said: “Our tourism awards really showcase the wealth of high quality and affordable holiday experiences on offer in England today.
“The judges were impressed with the huge, continued investment made by tourism businesses across all categories in spite of the recession. These finalists demonstrate how successful that commitment to quality has been."
