Feel the “Green Spirit” at Moevenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe

Tuesday, 28 May, 2017 0

The Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe has once again been awarded Green Globe Certification for its comprehensive approach to sustainability.

Well respected by business travellers, trade fairs visitors and meeting participants, Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe is a leading hotel in Stuttgart and its surroundings. General Manager and Director of Operations Germany, Jürgen Köhler said, "In our hotel you can feel the ‘Green Spirit’. We are really glad to be able to perform some protection for the environment with our contributions."

Since 2010 though to this year, Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe has set CO2 reduction targets, reducing energy consumption by the hotel (both electricity and fuel oil) resulting in a 36% saving. The public areas and rooms feature LED lamps wherever possible. Added to this, the hotel uses motion sensors in almost all public and back of house areas. All rooms benefit from an energy saving system with key cards automatically controlling temperature regulation and lights. The temperature in the whole hotel is also regulated automatically with a maximum and minimum temperature in accordance with the outside weather conditions.

In addition to this carbon reduction program, Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe employs Atmosfair projects offsetting the hotel’s CO2 emissions generated by business trips. Atmosfair provides 100% of CO2 savings according to the CDM Gold Standard, the strictest available standard for carbon offset projects.

For many years Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe has actively supported the local community and many charitable organizations, such as the Foerderverein fuer krebskranke Kinder Tuebingen dedicated to the care of children with cancer and their families. Once a year the hotel organizes a charity brunch in support of the Association. In February this year the hotel team also cooked meals for the voluntary workers and families at the Association’s headquarters in Tübingen.

Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport & Messe is committed to providing its employees a healthy and secure working environment, ensuring fairness and transparency, encouraging communication, a sense of entrepreneurship, and evolution. In order to guarantee an understanding and effectiveness of the sustainability program, all new employees attend the Welcome Day, an introduction to the brand, the hotel, and the sustainability programs in place. Added to this, each department manager integrates repetitive and short sustainability trainings during a daily 10-minute briefing. The aim is to initiate and remind all employees about good habits regarding the use of energy and water, the separation of waste, the security and hygiene measures in the workplace.
