Florence bans evening walks
Leisurely evening strolls in some of the most popular districts in Florence are being outlawed – unless people have been eating or drinking in the area. Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella said he wants to limit overcrowding
The new ordinance will stay in effect until the end of pandemic. Visitor access to six historic areas of the city centre, including the popular entertainment district of Santo Spirito, is limited between 9 pm to 6am.
Eating or drinking on the steps of the basilica of Santo Spirito is also banned and anyone breaking the rules could be fined up to €1,000.
