Former Europcar owner backs www.Oodles.com
Mario Salvo, affectionately known as ‘the king of car hire’, has invested in car
rental comparison site, www.Oodles.com, with Mario was responsible for the exceptional success of the Delta and Europcar brands in Australia.
Mario sold his ownership of Europcar over 2 years ago to a management private equity buyout and now spends his time in property development.
“Car rental is in my blood” said Mario about his investment in Melbourne based
www.Oodles.com, adding, “This time I haven’t had to buy a single car but I’ve got a fleet of 50,000 cars”.
The site’s co-founder and managing director, Steve Sherlock said “we’ve got a brand to build and Mario’s outstanding success in building the Delta and Europcar brands make him the ideal partner”.
In the past 10 years Steve has been prolific in founding and developing online car hire businesses www.RentNewCars.com.au, www.CarHire.com.au, VroomVroomVroom in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
“The combination of Mario’s car rental pedigree, our online comparison software and the quirky brand name www.oodles.com, we think we have the right ingredients to do well in this category initially in Australia and then beyond”, said Steve.
Steve also said that with Firefox introducing tabbed-browsing in 2002 which took Microsoft a few years to catch up, tabbed browsing has made viewing multiple web sites faster, easier and more convenient, with www.Oodles.com introducing tabs to their car rental comparison matrix dubbed the Oodles Tab Matrix ™, a great tiem saver, comparing five rental companies and 10 car classes side by side on the one page.
The lowest price in each car class is displayed in a highlighted tab, making it very easy to compare with Managing Director, Steve Sherlock saying “other comparison sites do a screen dump of prices leaving you to scroll through the page and try work out who has the best deals.
The Oodles Tab Matrix ™ does the work for you and is like having five website on the one page and by using tabs to compare apples with applies we claim that users can compare oodles of options and booking in under 2 minutes”.
