Gecko Digital partners with Seychelles Tourism for VR content
Multimedia provider Gecko Digital has inked an agreement with the Seychelles Tourism Department to become their preferred VR content partner.
The firm will produce high-quality 360° VR images and virtual tours to promote the Seychelles.
The MOU was signed by Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary Tourism Seychelles and James South, founder of Gecko Digital.
It was signed at the Digital Tourism Fair last week at the Tourism Festival of the Seychelles.
As the VR content provider for Seychelles Tourism, Gecko Digital will deliver HD 360° virtual reality photography and video.
The partnership will see Gecko Digital create a dedicated “Seychelles in 360” section on the official tourism website, Seychelles Travel.
It will map and showcase key destination highlights using panospheric 360 VR content.
Key locations to be showcased include Côte D’Or; La Digue, Victoria, Praslin, Lazio Praslin, and Moyenne Island.
In addition, they will collaborate to identify suitable hotels and resorts for an ongoing supply of high-quality VR content.
This will be used to promote the Seychelles internationally.
Also, Gecko Digital aims to develop a VR content photography training programme for Seychelles Tourism personnel.
James South, Founder of Gecko Digital, said: ” Destination VR’ marks a paradigm shift in travel marketing.”
“Our stats tell us that 70% who view a virtual tour online click through, with 35% going on to make a direct booking.”
It follows a successful Gecko Digital collaboration with Cape Town Tourism.
