Gwen Stefani chosen as Carnival Jubilee godmother
Carnival Cruise Line revealed triple GRAMMY award winner Gwen Stefani will be honored as the godmother of new flagship, Carnival Jubilee.
The naming ceremony takes place in Galveston, Texas on February 24.
Stefani has also won four MTV Video Music Awards, two Billboard Awards, an American Music Award, and a Brit Award.
She has sold more than 60 million units worldwide.
Stefani is a coach on the NBC series The Voice.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Gwen Stefani onto Carnival Jubilee so we can honor her as the ship’s godmother,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
“We are going to show her an enthusiastic welcome in only the way Carnival can when she joins us on February 24.”
Carnival Jubilee entered service in December and is homeported year-round from the Port of Galveston.
Jubilee is the third Excel class ship, and is powered on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology platform.
It has a guest capacity of 6,500 with 1,750 crew.
The naming ceremony is an invitation-only event that will be held on board the ship.
A portion of the event will be broadcast live on Carnival’s Facebook page.
