For its new social media campaign, the Brazilian Tourism Board has promised to turn tourists’ Instagram photos into their very own paintings. A team from Visit Brasil will pick over 250 photos with the hashtag #visitbrasil, and then a team of artists will transform each photo into a work of art via live feed. The paintings will then be shipped to the door of the original Instagrammer, so get snapping!
It might not seem like the best fit for travel brands, but Snapchat’s focus on visual content makes it a good option for those looking to share stories about travel. The smartphone app allows users to send texts, photos and videos to other contacts which last for 10 seconds before disappearing. The app does have a few draw backs, but those working in travel marketing and communications would be well advised to watch its evolution as it forms more consumer behaviours that will likely shape the future of media consumption. With attention spans dwindling among a generation of tech savvy mobile users, a short and snappy message from brands to consumers might just be the way forward…watch this space!
App start-ups seem to be leading the way in business innovation, aiming to make life simpler at the click of a button. It seems laundry is the choix de jour for many innovators in London and abroad at the moment. One app set to makes swathes in the market when it launches later this month is Lavanda. This is one of the first laundry service apps in the UK to make use of local and self-employed ‘lavanda-pros’, people who are provided with equipment and training and work from their own homes providing an efficient delivery laundry service. Although the service is not 24 hours, its extensive opening times of 7am to11pm Monday-Sunday means that both the early bird and night owl can be sure to have crisp clean shirts all year round.
