It is no surprise American travelers like recognition when traveling regularly on business but it goes well beyond extra perks and loyalty points.
According to recent research commissioned by leading hotel price comparison platform Hotelscombined, 22% of travelers want a more personalized experience and want to be recognized personally if they stay in the same hotel on a regular basis.
"Business travelers are travelers with strong habits and often turn into repeat customers for a hotel if the traveler has a positive experience. Their focus is on business while they’re away from home, but it’s important that the hotel acts as a bridge between home and the office," said Chris Rivett, travel expert at HotelsCombined.
"We’re seeing many hotels prioritize the guest experience and we expect to see this trend continue as technology makes it even easier for hotels to offer personalized services."
In a survey of 500 travelers who took business trips within the last 12 months, 48% prefer to use the same hotel each time they travel, providing opportunities for hotels to optimize guest recognition.
The research found 13% travel at least 20 times a year for business purposes while 62% travel for work between one and five times a year on average.
"Given businessmen and women are on the road so frequently their business is extremely important to hotels. Because of this we see many hotels going the extra mile to ensure business travelers are treated well from the moment they check in to the moment they leave," said Rivett.
Hotelscombined says 49% of American business travelers are away for two to three nights on average each trip while 25% are away for longer.
It also found 11% use travel agents for trip planning and booking and 44% book themselves via online booking tools.
