How sustainable tourism can help you to sell more holidays
Industry sustainable tourism charity the Travel Foundation is seeking opinions from agents ahead of a debate at the ABTA Travel Convention.
The Travel Foundation is the travel trade’s way to make sure the destinations being sold today will still be worth visiting in the future.
It raises money from the industry to fund projects in holiday destinations. It also works with the industry to try to improve the fundamentals of the business so that sustainability is built in.
Agents play a vital role and the Travel Foundation wants to hear from you. Customers are interested in sustainable tourism but in a way that makes them feel good not guilty.
At the ABTA Travel Convention in Marrakech next month, the Travel Foundation will be discussing with agents how to use sustainable tourism as a selling tool. The organisation wants to hear your thoughts – how you have done it and succeeded or even tried it and failed.
*Do you up-sell clients into hotels with good environmental credentials?
*Do you steer clients to destinations with good environmental records?
*Do you pick tour operators who you believe are doing their bit?
*Can you use green tourism to get the family with the teenage children to agree on their summer holiday?
Please send your thoughts to Sonia Davies, chair of the Travel Foundation’s communications committee, at [email protected].
She will be presenting your comments and feedback at the ABTA Convention session, so even if you’re not attending you can put your views across.
