IFWTO and SKåL join forces
A major outcome of the International Federation of Women’s Travel Organisations recent annual convention in Athens, Greece was a decision to form a special alliance between IFWTO and Skål International.
The alliance means that the IFWTO globally will become a Skål member organization, while retaining its own identity.
The new arrangements will take effect from 1 May 2006 to 31 December 2007, when Skål’s current contract to act as the Federation’s secretariat ends.
IFWTO’s new international chairman, Faye Alexander of Sydney, Australia, said, “This arrangement is not a merger but an alliance and during this period IFWTO will continue to maintain its own identity, structure and website but will have the added benefits of Skål membership”.
She added, “It’s a win-win situation, with Skål gaining new members and IFWTO members gaining more than 20,000 networking opportunities, giving the Federation time to grow its membership, and to formulate and introduce the changes needed to adapt to today’s changing industry environment”.
Australia Travel and Tourism Professionals, while welcoming both men and women professionals in the industry to become members of ATTP, is the local Australian member of IFWTO.
International members of the 2006-2007 IFWTO Executive Committee are:
