International Conference on Gay & Lesbian Tourism will highlight niche markets
Over 200 leading global tourism professionals are expected to convene at the Wyndham Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco, October 31st to November 2nd, for Community Marketing’s 13th International Conference on Gay & Lesbian Tourism.
This year’s theme, "Diversity Within LGBT," focuses on identifying tourism opportunities within distinct markets in the LGBT community: Under 35’s, Lesbians, Latinos and African Americans. Presentations will include destination popularity and appealing marketing triggers for each group.
Thomas Roth, president of Community Marketing Inc., says that the conference will feature results from the company’s 17th Annual LGBT Travel Survey, including destination rankings, emerging trends within the LGBT travel segment, and evaluation of marketing return on investment.
"The LGTB market continues to perform well throughout the recession and is trending upward. The conference will deliver useful, practical insights and tools for travel marketers already involved in the gay market, as well as for new entrants seeking to understand and attract gay travelers," said Roth.
The conference is attended by government tourism offices, convention and visitor bureaus, destination management companies, meeting planners and travel suppliers including airlines, hotels, cruise lines and tour operators. Keynote speakers will include: Kimpton Hotels CEO Nikki Leondakis; Tom Kiely, Executive Vice President of San Francisco Travel and Kate Kendall, Executive Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights.
Perennial international gay favorite destinations include Toronto, London, Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Sydney and Thailand. On the USA domestic front, New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and conference host city San Francisco remain popular with LGTB travelers.
