IPP launches protection policy for DIY packages
Travel insurance provider, International Passenger Protection Limited, has developed a protection policy covering passengers for the financial failure of any element of their holiday.
Developed in conjunction with a consortium of insurers, the policy is tailor-made to individual companies or websites so that passengers could be protected for everything booked on that website.
This would include the airline, hotel, car hire, excursions, transfers and other items currently available on the internet.
“It is perfectly clear that there is a huge demand for a consumer protection policy of this nature,” said a spokesman.
“This will be most suitable for an airline or consolidator’s website which includes DIY packages.
“DIY packages are becoming the favoured choice of consumers but by buying holiday components separately there is no ATOL protection in place. PP’s DIY insurance policy is designed to fill the gap brought about by changing consumer habits and provide that financial protection.”
IPP claims the policy is not only comparable with an ATOL protection but is in fact much more comprehensive, simpler and cost-effective.
It includes repatriation to a similar standard as booked and consequential loss as a result of any failure.
