Irish travellers get visa-free entry to China
China has again extended its visa-free policy to two more European nations.
Travellers from Ireland have been added to the visa-free list as have Swiss nationals.
It is a move to further boost inbound tourism.
In December China introduced visa-free entry for nationals of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
It also gave Malaysia travelers vis exempt status.
China government officials announced the visa-free expansion for Irish and Swiss tourists at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Visa-free entry is for up to 15 days.
It is a pilot program which initially lasts for one year.
China only fully reopened its borders a year ago and is still down on pre-pandemic levels.
