Is the world ready to embrace a cartoon character cruise?

The themed cruise in the 1990s emerged as very popular but is the market ready for cartoon characters?

Cruise lines will find out this year with Carnival partnering with Jason Coleman, Inc., a producer of celebrity-hosted cruises, to launch the Betty Boop Fan Cruise.

It’s said to be the first “authentic, fully licensed specialty cruise featuring the legendary Queen of Cartoons Betty Boop.

The five-day cruise aboard the Fun Ship Carnival Elation is set to depart from San Diego, Calif., on 9 October to visit Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico.

“My celebrity-hosted fan cruises are not a traditional cruise. They’re not even a traditional fan event. The combination of the two provides for a unique opportunity for celebrities and fans to connect,” said Mr Coleman.

What do people do aboard a Betty Boop ship?

They will be able to participate in several movie screenings and parties. They can also take pictures of Betty. The latest apparel and collectibles? Betty will be forthcoming.

Each guest will receive a gift bag with Betty goodies and news. There will also be a Q&A event hosted by Mark Fleischer, president of Fleischer Studios and grandson of Max Fleischer, who created Betty.

“This cruise offers a fantastic opportunity for Betty Boop fans to come together and experience an outstanding vacation they will never forget, and to celebrate a character that has brought decades of joy, entertainment, and smiles to fans around the world,” said Vicki Freed, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and guest services.
