January bookings surge for Blue Bay Personal Travel Consultants

Friday, 17 Jan, 2022 0

The Personal Travel Consultants in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel has enjoyed a bumper week of trading after the government announced it easing Covid-19 testing requirements for travellers.

From 6 – 12 January 2022, after the scrapping of pre-departure testing and the switch from a day 2 PCR to a cheaper lateral flow test, bookings spiked by 65% compared with the same period the week before.

The peak day for bookings, in that week, was Tuesday, 11 January, when one Personal Travel Consultant (PTC) racked up £105,000 worth of revenue, single-handedly.

Sixty per cent of the sales for the PTCs were generated by Blue Bay Travel, allowing the homeworkers to cash in on the quality customer leads available to them, whilst at the same time booking holidays via their own customer leads at the higher commission rate.

Summer 2022 departures dominated, accounting for 62% of the bookings made between 6 – 12 January, while 22% was for last minute getaways.

Dominican Republic, Maldives and Turkey were the top selling destinations for the homeworking business, and the average booking value was a respectable £4,529.

Abbie Heaton, Sales Manager for The Personal Travel Consultants in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel, said: "Last week’s government announcement triggered a sharp spike in demand for our Personal Travel Consultants and we’re thrilled with the buzz, excitement and bookings it has generated."

"Bookings and enquiries have been coming thick and fast and agents have found that being available to customers outside of the traditional working hours has really paid dividends, because the peak time of day for bookings in the past week has been 5pm, when most retail agents are finishing for the day."

A member of The Midcounties Co-operative’s Co-op Travel Consortium, all holidays sold by The Personal Travel Consultants in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel are ABTA and ATOL bonded.
