Jet2 hires more than 120 former Thomas Cook employees

Jet2 has hired more than 120 ex-Thomas Cook staff, including more than 50 pilots, 20 engineers and almost 40 cabin crew members.

They will join Jet2.com and Jet2holidays in time for summer 2020, said the company.

Since the collapse of Thomas Cook in late September, Jet2 has held a number of dedicated recruitment roadshows in Manchester, Peterborough, Birmingham Airport and London Stansted, as well as overseas.

The company is continuing its recruitment drive and estimates that it could employ a further 50 pilots by the end of February 2020 and it has vacancies for a further 50 engineers. 

So far, Jet2 has hired 20 former Thomas Cook cabin crew at Manchester Airport alone, and it is looking to offer more places on its training scheme.

At its commercial office in Leeds City Centre, the company has offered former Thomas Cook staff the roles of contracts manager, overseas operations trainer and business analyst. Further candidates are currently going through the recruitment process, it said.
