Kissing, hotel biometrics and air brushing
The wonderful world of Vine continues to make its mark on how users share and capture moments of travel and leisure. The video application, owned by Twitter, is the perfect tool to grab those poignant moments – all in just six seconds. This week, Mashable showcased 25 examples of videos from around the globe, many of which were found using the rather nifty hashtag #6secondpostcard. Check out the short films here.
Up next, kiss recognition software. Yep, that’s right. Iconic British fashion brand, Burberry, has teamed up with Google to create ‘Burberry Kisses‘. Using your smartphone or a web cam, this campaign encourages us to send a kiss to our loved ones. Just kiss the screen, the print is captured and used to seal your message before sending to your beloved’s Google+ page. Burberry is frequently counted as in or around the top spot for the most followed and engaged brand in social media and this deal with Google is a clever way to increase their consumer interaction with Google+. Mwah!
Is there such thing as too much technology on holiday? The Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, famous for introducing RFID technology to its hotels (allowing guests to scan a wrist band to check in to Facebook), has taken technology to a whole new level. This year, the hotel is introducing biometrics status updates. Guests input their fingerprints at kiosks, allowing them to just tap two fingers on Facebook pillars to take a photo and upload a status! But that’s not all you can do…after registering your credit card on arrival you can also pay for drinks and food using just your own hand – clever stuff. But is it all a bit much?
And finally, we do not endorse airbrushing in any way, shape or form. But a new app for the iphone allows you to touch up those areas you always wished could be slightly altered. Facetune allows you to ‘edit’ those unwanted blemishes with tools otherwise reserved for the professionals. A bit of fun for all you budding portrait photographers out there!
