Rydges Hotels and Resorts intends to upgrade its Australia-wide menu offerings with innovation and panache after signing Ed Halmagyi, aka Better Homes and Gardens Fast Ed, to lead its Food and Beverage team.

The celebrity chef began his ‘internship’ at the new 114 room Rydges Campbelltown, NSW recently as he prepared his first gourmet lunch for a select gathering of local business clientele and media representatives.

There’s a great synergy between the Rydges Hotels and Resorts and Better Homes and Gardens and this is an exciting time to be working with this very well known and highly established Australian brand, said Mr Halmagyi.

He sees his role as ‘the face of food and beverage at Rydges as providing a number of new challenges.

First off “I want to build relationships with the chefs at the Rydges properties and then develop a common theme to drive Rydges food.  Quality will be emphasised with a real respect for ingredients.  My goal is to develop signature dishes at every Rydges hotel,” he said.

Other goals he wants to achieve is to find new seasonal variations of the best Australian produce and impart the idea of light, fresh food.

Mr Halmagyi’s philosophy “to teach ideas and not recipes and always keep in mind the four food cornerstones: colour/flavour/texture/shape” will also be dished up at conference banquets and themed incentive dinners.

The popular TV personality expects to take Rydges MICE events to new heights as he inspires chefs with ideas and innovations from two decades in the food industry.

“Being a part of designing food which brings passion to dining tables around the world is one of my main goals, he said.
