Lowcost signs exclusive deal with lastminute.com

Monday, 09 Sep, 2011 0

Lowcost Travel Group has secured an exclusive deal to power lastminute.com and provide a range of holiday product including beach, ski and long-haul trips.

The deal will give lastminute access to product from a range of tour operators, bedbanks and other suppliers from Lowcost's Intuitive/ivector booking platform, which Lastminute will sell on under its own brand.

Existing suppliers affected by the new deal, which will kick in during the fourth quarter of this year, have been told their contracts with Lastminute will be terminated.

Lowcost chief executive Paul Evans said: "They (Lastminute) liked the technology and the product. We have all the parts now to help a company develop, including a range of over 350,000 hotels, transfer via resorthoppa and 100-plus airlines and travel ancilliary products on our platform."

He said other companies, including ski providers, bedbanks and other tour operators would be able to sell "carefully selected" product on the Intuitive system for lastminute, subject to approval by Lowcost. "The important thing is we – Lowcost and Intuitive – will deliver to lastminute state of the art technology and product."

Intuitive/ivector already powers easyJet Holidays' website, Total stay, Getabed, ulook/ubook and others in addition to running its own consumer site lowcostholidays.co.uk.
