Following weeks of travel disruption, Manchester Airport managing director Karen Smart is standing down. She leaves Manchester Airports Group (MAG) after two years as MD.
Travellers have suffered long queues and lengthy waits at check-in and security over several weeks. MAG previously said the airport was ‘facing staff shortages and recruitment challenges after the most damaging two years in its history.’
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said police and fire service staff could be brought in to help alleviate the disruption.
