Maps and taxi fare estimates added by BSI
Enhanced destination maps and local taxi fare estimates to help travellers manage costs are among new features being offered through BSI’s online self-booking tool.
The specialist accommodation and conference management and solutions company is offering additional new services following technological developments.
Customers will be offered a high specification, bespoke electronic map, sent with the confirmation of each booking. The new maps follow an agreement with online mapping service Multimap. The maps will also add a number of additional details using BSI’s database of fully geocoded hotels, airports, train stations, car parks and the traveller’s closest office.
To accompany the maps, BSI can now also calculate approximate taxi fares, using information provided by several regional cab companies. The estimated fare is calculated between a traveller’s point of arrival (such as an airport or train station) and destination hotel.
The new developments follow the introduction of SME messaging booking confirmations for travellers on the move.
IBSI IT director Ian Lower said: “These new developments are a further step forward, and follow BSI’s strategy of continuous technological service enhancements.
“The mapping and taxi fares services are exclusive to BSI customers, as we’ve spent time compiling our own unique database of relevant landmarks. The fare estimation also helps customers to evaluate the total cost of their trip. For example, although an out-of-town hotel may appear cheaper, the fare for the 30-minute taxi journey may counter the saving of the rate.
“Following BSI’s recent announcement of connectivity with Premier Travel Inn, we’ve also just signed a deal with GetThere to book hotel space through its Sabre Travel portal. With deals like this, as well as our new technology, we’re constantly working to provide our customers with the best service and prices”.
