Marriott looking for creative F&B entrepreneurs
Marriott International is on the lookout for the next generation of food and drink-focused entrepreneurs with CANVAS – a global incubator that aims to turn the most innovative ideas into a functioning hospitality business.
The CANVAS program is inviting entrepreneurs, chefs, and bar managers to pitch a food or drink concept which if successful will be incorporated as independent business within a Marriott hotel.
Ideas are now being sought for the JW Marriott Shenzhen in China and Renaissance Phoenix Downtown, and over the next six months, the program will be expanded for about a dozen hotels.
Marriott will provide resources, commercial space, and expert support for the winning bids and after six months of business operations will be evaluated based on the bar or restaurant’s popularity and return on investment.
"We believe the key ingredient of CANVAS is to marry the best ideas of local entrepreneurs with Marriott’s resources, space and capital that will transform ambition into action right inside our hotels," said Wolfgang Lindlbauer, global leader, food & beverage.
"Just like travel, food and drink experiences today are about indulgence and discovery for modern travelers and local clientele alike, to savor, enjoy and share."
From initial pitch to the opening of the business and beyond, Marriott plans to film each entrepreneurial journey and broadcast as reality TV-style webisodes online.
