Mirvac Hotels and Resorts Announces its First Tasmanian Hotel
Mirvac Hotels and Resorts will further expand its management expertise following their appointment to manage The Sebel Launceston from 1st July 2006.
The Sebel Launceston, currently known as The Cornwall Hotel will become the group’s first Tasmanian property and part of Mirvac’s famous ‘Sebel’ portfolio of hotels providing the highest level of personalized service in the tradition of the world’s finest boutique hotels.
A charming, European style hotel, The Sebel is located in the heart of Launceston, just 15 minutes from Launceston Airport, close to all the major attractions and within easy walking distance from the bustling Seaport of Launceston.
The Sebel Launceston offers 49 fully self contained 1 and 2 bedroom suites with separate dining and living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms. All of the guestrooms are spacious and stylishly appointed, with facilities including a guest lounge area with openfire place, restaurant and wine bar, a private courtyard framed by oak trees, a gymnasium, and meeting or special event rooms catering for up to 60 guests.
The hotel was first opened in May 2005 and has been owner/operated since this time. According to joint owner and architect of the hotel, Doug Gray, Mirvac Hotels and Resorts is a perfect fit given their extensive expertise in hotel management.
“Both the Mirvac brand and Sebel properties have an excellent reputation and we are excited to have Mirvac Hotels and Resorts manage our property. We are confident of the reputation that Mirvac Hotels has established and know that they bring extensive, prestige property management skills to our hotel”, Mr Gray said.
Andrew Turner, Mirvac Hotels and Resorts Chief Executive Officer added, “We have been looking for some time now to add a property in Tasmania to our collection of hotels under the Sebel brand, so it was well worth the wait to have this superb boutique hotel become part of our Group.”
“It has wide appeal to the business traveller, conference delegate and of course leisure guest due to its excellent location, unique accommodation and first class restaurant. The hotel is an ideal addition to our portfolio and we are delighted to have The Sebel banner in Tasmania at such a fantastic hotel”, he added.
