New bill calls for standard pandemic health protocols on aircraft
Two democratic lawmakers have introduced a new bill to set out standardized rules to ensure the health of passengers and aviation workers during viral outbreaks or a pandemic.
Peter DeFazio and Rick Larsen tabled the Healthy Flights Act of 2021 which mandates the wearing of masks on board aircraft and within airports.
It also calls for a study on transmission of infectious diseases in cabins; and establishes a FAA Center of Excellence on Infectious Disease Response and Prevention in Aviation to advise the FAA on best practices and measures to take based on expert scientific knowledge.
