New carrier Riyadh Air outlines ambitions
New Saudi Arabia airline Riyadh Air made its official reveal in front of aviation industry leaders at the Paris Air Show.
The new flag carrier has ambitious targets to serve 100 destinations by 2030.
It hopes to help transform Riyadh City into a global air hub.
A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in Riyadh Air’s purple livery was presented.
The airline will take the RX airline designator code.
Riyadh Air will be helmed by governor of the Public Investment Fund, Yassir Al-Ramayyan as chair, and Tony Douglas as CEO.
Douglas said that the airline won’t announce any new aircraft orders at the Paris Air Show.
It has existing orders for 39 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with options for dozens more.
It recently hinted at a large aircraft order for narrow body jets but is in no rush right now.
The new airline is expected to launch in 2025.
