New corporate travel partners share common origin
Two companies founded by entrepreneurs who pioneered overland tours out of London in the early 1970s have joined forces to service a more sophisticated market.
FCm Travel Solutions, the global corporate travel arm of Flight Centre Limited, has established a new presence in The Netherlands, as part of Dutch businessman Rik J. Viezee’s Terra Travel Group.
The Terra Travel group was founded in 1972 when Viezee began leading overland expeditions to Nairobi in Kenya from Earls Court Rd in London.
One year later in 1973, budding Australian entrepreneur Graham “Skroo” Turner, who went on to become a co-founder of Flight Centre Limited, took his Bristol Lodekka London Bus to Morocco for the first Top Deck Travel overland tour.
The two groups have enjoyed similar diversification in the years since, into a variety of specialist travel markets including the world of corporate travel.
FCm Travel Solutions is the first Asia Pacific-based global corporate travel and expense management company and offers its clients a wide range of corporate travel management services including 24-hour emergency assistance.
Charles Gregory, General Manager Network Development, FCm Travel Solutions Global Corporate Division, said the new partnership will enable FCm Travel Solutions to expand corporate travel business within the Benelux market.
“Globally, the new partnership gives FCm Travel Solutions another strong presence in an important business market,” Mr Gregory said.
“Our clients have the comfort of knowing that the personal and professional service they expect from FCm Travel Solutions is available close at hand in the same time zone, rather than in some call centre located heaven knows where.”
Mr Gregory said Rik Viezee has a business plan for FCm Travel Solutions involving his strong connections with international aid agencies, government departments and the business establishment, and tapping into regional opportunities in the Benelux market.
