New York City stands tall in “filthiest hotel†category
Four of the US’s top ten “filthiest†hotels are located in New York City, a dubious achievement for “The Big Apple.”
TripAdvisor says it is saving visitors from “hotel Hell†by naming their list of the worst hotels in the US.
The “winners:â€
Hotel Carter in New York City; New York Inn; Budget Inn in Knoxville, TN; West End Studios in New York City; Pickwick Hotel in San Diego; Days Inn Downtown in Miami; Tropicana Resort Hotel in Virginia Beach; The LeLand in Detroit; the West Park Hotel in New York City; and the Regency Inn & Suites.
The list is compiled from hotel reviews submitted by TripAdvisor’s five million registered members, For instance: A recent review of the St. Augustine resort by a Louisville traveler titled “Worst FLexperience ever!” noted “the filthy bathtub, dirty floors, towels not replaced after the first night (until we asked), no vacuuming, stained (yet washed) sheets, blankets with holes, musty bar and public rooms, no operating dining facility,” etc.
PS: if it’s any consolation, some of the hotels are as inexpensive as $68 a night.
