NYC, Long Island partner for ‘Beachfront Backyard’ campaign
New York State’s two most prominent tourism destinations have joined forces for a joint international campaign.
Discover Long Island and NYC & Company have unveiled ‘NYC+’ a two-destination concept that positions Long Island as ‘New York City’s Beachfront Backyard.’
The campaign is supported by an Empire State Development Regional Economic Development Council grant and officially launches this month.
The campaign, which contrasts Long Island as a ‘beachfront contrast to the urban, chic NYC experience,’ is being targeted at Canada and Australia source markets.
Based on a recent report by Tourism Economics, the two destinations account for nearly three-quarters of all state-wide traveler spending.
"Long Island and New York City are a perfect combined destination for the international visitor. The iconic NYC experience is on every traveler’s bucket list and the ability to connect Long Island to that vacation aspiration is an immeasurable opportunity for our destination." said Kristen Jarnagin, president and CEO, Discover Long Island.
NYC & Company CEO Fred Dixon said: "New York City and Long Island are both attractive and welcoming destinations for international travelers, and we look forward to collaborating with Discover Long Island on this exciting new initiative to encourage more incremental Canadian and Australian visitation to the region."
