OHG launches in-resort video initiative

The On Holiday Group has launched a Web 2.0 initiative where it will take short video interviews of customers in resort to post on its website.

It says instead of relying on customers to write and post reviews when they return from their holiday, OHG will be the first company to take the concept in to resort.

Called Fresh TV, OHG will work with local partners to shoot the footage on standard digital cameras, which can then be uploaded via a simple web interface.

Footage will then by approved by the Fresh TV editor and could be on display in as little as five minutes, it claimed.

Head of eCommerce Hichame Assi said: “The web 2.0 revolution has proven that customers trust other customers opinions more than glossy brochures and Fresh TV is a natural progression, but has the added advantage of bringing relatively boring written reviews to life.

“People can now actually see reviewers and make a judgement whether they are like minded people when it comes to holiday choices.”

CEO Steve Endacott added: “We will be applying this content suitably branded across all our sites so soon our agency partners will be able to view this footage on OHG’s trade site Holiday Brokers or use it within their own sites”.

Bill Allen, OHG’s accommodation division MD, stressed that hotels will not have control over what customers say.

“They must have faith in their products. The key point is that its real holiday makers talking to other holiday makers,” he said.

OHG is currently filming in five resorts and will be uploading hundreds of more videos in the coming months.

It also plans to email all previous customers on its database to inform them that they can now upload videos of their holidays to the new Fresh TV platform.
