A new online portal which allows travel agents to compete to meet customers’ travel requests is to go live next month.
Backers of OfferMeaTrip.com claim to have developed a new approach for travel sales which will “reinvigorate” the concept of the travel agent.
The travel sales start-up, which is to be backed by a national press advertising campaign, enables users to describe their holiday wishes, against which agents can make offers using an online personal brochure creator to bid for business.
This allows consumers to take advantage of agent expertise, while competition amongst agents ensures value for customers.
Company founder Mark Seall said: “Despite advances in search and social travel, we think that the only real way to provide good answers in a market with millions of complex options is to use human beings – in the form of travel agents.
“In this way we are hoping to provide travel agents with the tools to come out from the shadow of the internet and compete in the online world.
“We also believe we are giving customers exactly what they want – a couple of really good offers for the holiday they ask for.”
An agent information site has been created at OfferMeaTrip.com/agent.
