ONYX introduces first Shama property in Malaysia

Thursday, 23 Jan, 2024 0

ONYX Hospitality Group has unveiled its first Shama branded property in Malaysia.

Malaysia is the first country outside of Thailand to host all three ONYX brands: Amari, OZO, and Shama.

Shama Suasana Johor Bahru marks the second opening in partnership with developer UMLand, following the Amari Johor Bahru in 2017.

The Shama brand offers contemporary serviced apartments.

It officially opens soon in Q1, 2024 next to the Zenith Lifestyle Centre, Johor Bahru’s main entertainment hub.

It is within walking distance to malls and Johor Bahru’s Heritage Trail.

Shama Suasana Johor Bahru targets both leisure and business travelers with spacious living rooms and separate bedrooms, as well as fully equipped kitchenettes.

The expansion of the Shama brand into Malaysia is part of ONYX Hospitality Group’s strategy to expand in the hotel, resort, and serviced apartment business across Southeast Asia.

ONYX is on track to operate over 50 properties by 2025, up from 44 at present.

It is targeting 70 by 2028.
