Perks offered to travelers to boost Taiwan tourism

The Taiwanese government is handing out traveller perks to boost Taiwan tourism numbers.
From 1 May, it is offering digital payment cards or vouchers worth NT$5,000 (about $160).
These can be used to pay for hotel stays or for shopping and local travel expenses.
Not everyone arriving on holiday in Taiwan will get one.
There are 500,000 digital cards offered in a lucky draw.
Tourists must pre-register at least one day before arrival and will receive a QR code.
The QR code is then scanned at the arrival airport.
It can be scanned at Taipei’s Taoyuan and Songshan airports, and at Taichung and Kaohsiung airports.
It is part of a multi-million-dollar initiative to boost the Taiwan tourism recovery.
