Philippines targets 7.7 million foreign tourist arrivals
The Philippines has welcomed over two million international visitors so far, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.
Philippines tourism receipts for the first quarter were PHP157.62 billion, which translates to an estimated 120% recovery rate from the same period in 2019.
Based on the Department’s monitoring data, as of April 24, 2024, a total of 2,010,522 international visitors have entered the country.
This represents 15% growth on the same period last year.
South Korea remains the Philippines’ top source market in terms of inbound visitor arrivals with more than 546,000 or 27% of the overall total.
The United States follows with over 315,000 (15.71%), and China is third with more than 130,000.
“The Department of Tourism sees a positive trajectory for the country’s international tourist arrivals this year,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
“We are glad that the collaboration and collective effort and hard work are materializing into figures that are beneficial for the entire industry.”
This year, the country is targeting 7.7 million international visitors, which is nearly at its pre-pandemic peak in 2019 of 8.26 million inbound visitor arrivals.
