Philippines tourism video pulled after stock footage blunder
The Philippines’ new tourism campaign has got off to an embarrassing start.
The ‘Love the Philippines’ campaign had used photo and video assets from several other countries.
The agency, DDB Philippines apologised for an ‘unfortunate oversight.’
It has used images of rice terraces in Indonesia and sand dunes in the UAE.
Philippine’s tourism secretary, Christina Garcia Frasco said it had assurances ‘that the originality and ownership of all materials are in order.’
The new S900,000 ‘Love the Philippines; campaign just launched and takes over from the long running ‘Its More Fun in the Philippines’ slogan.
“The use of foreign stock footage in a campaign promoting the Philippines in highly inappropriate”, the DOT said.
The video has now been removed.
