Port Canaveral plans new cruise terminal
Port Canaveral is set to expand again.
A new multi-user cruise terminal is planned at the existing North 8 berth.
It would be operational within two years and able to accommodate the largest ships currently sailing.
“We have cruise partners with immediate needs to locate assets in Florida and Port Canaveral is where they want to be,” said Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO.
“Our ability to efficiently bring a new cruise terminal online was key to retaining and growing this important business segment.”
North 8 berth was built in 2018 as a multi-purpose facility and the Port says it will require only minimal modifications to expand it to accommodate large cruise ships.
The Port is targeting completion of the new terminal by the summer of 2026.
It would comprise a multi-story parking facility for up to 3,000 vehicles and a new access road.
