Portman finalises P&O Travel deal
Portman Travel has completed the acquisition of P&O Travel from Carnival PLC.
The deal consolidates Portman’s position as the UK’s largest independent travel management consultancy, creating a business with an annual turnover of £260 million.
P&O Travel has offices in London, Heathrow, Southampton and Liverpool as well as various client implants.
Portman Travel is a shareholder in global business travel network Radius, as was P&O Travel.
“The acquisition will benefit customers by combining Radius partnership into a larger UK entity which can deliver greater scale, international reach and buying power,” a statement said.
A month’s consultation with P&O Travel’s 100 staff under the TUPE (Transfer of Undertaking Regulations) has been completed and a further 30 days consultation process is now underway.
Portman chief executive Graham Flack said: “We’ve commenced the process of introducing P&O customers to the additional benefits they can now enjoy, such as Portman24, our specialist out-of-hours service.
“Any time of night or day, 365 days a year, there’s a Portman expert ready, willing and able to solve customers’ travel problems.
“The service is backed up by Portman Alert 24, a web-based system designed to give real-time breaking news and weather as well as pertinent destination information. It also acts as a central information resource which enables Portman to track who is travelling where and when – a real boon in these uncertain times.”
