Qbic Hotel Amsterdam WTC: Green Actions Speak for Themselves

Thursday, 04 Jul, 2017 0

Qbic Hotel Amsterdam WTC located next to the World Trade Centre, is a hip, modern hotel renowned for its cube shaped living spaces (or Cubi). The hotel retains its green credentials with recent re-certificationby Green Globe for its sixth year.

Many new initiatives have been taken onboard by the progressive property. Qbic Amsterdam prefers certified suppliers and companies that follow best environmental and social practices. Fritz Kola organic sodas chill in the lobby fridge especially delicious on a hot summer’s day and locally baked bread from Bakkerij Vooges along with Fairtrade Puro Tea are available at the breakfast buffet. Fresh fruit now delivered by a company called Fruit Full is not only good for your daily diet, every time a big basket of organic fruit arrives, a tree is planted in a third world country.

Equal opportunity is encouraged amongst staff as well as in the wider community. One CSR project the hotel actively supports is the TUMI Ghana Foundation, a centre that aims to empower women in Ghana by providing courses such as vocational training in hairdressing and dressmaking that help build financially independent lives.

Sustainable measures are continuously improving and energy reduction goals remain on target with LED lights installed in the lobby area. Qbic Amsterdam uses 100% green energy generated by solar panels on the roof so electricity usage creates no greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, a co-generation plant ensures heating of the building is energy efficient.
