Rigid dress code warns of air marshals
The US Congress is investigating a report that a rigid dress code and other giveaways are hurting the anonymity and ability to air marshals to do their job.
The report by the House Judiciary Committee found “many air marshals indicate that the dress code actually draws more attention to the identity of the federal air marshals because of its rigid requirements,” reported the AP.
The report also criticizes the service for requiring marshals to stay at designated hotels and show their credentials when checking in.
In at least one case, the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel in Florida designated the service “company of the month: because of the number of rooms it had reserved.
Boarding procedures were also questioned.
