Royal Caribbean cancels next cruise from fog-bound Tampa Bay
The Brilliance of the Seas cruise ship stranded by thick fog has finally made it to dry land after spending more than a day stuck outside the Port of Tampa Bay.
The U.S. Coast Guard helped escort the Royal Caribbean ship into the port and the next cruise, originally scheduled to depart Monday night, has been canceled.
Royal Caribbean said it would offer full refunds of the cruise fare, as well as an extra 25% towards a future cruise booking.
"We understand that this was not what our guests were expecting, and not what we said last night, and we share in their disappointment," Royal Caribbean said in a statement.
About 2,500 customers had arrived in Tampa Bay expecting to board the ship Monday.
The cruise line said foggy conditions are expected to persist for the next few days.
