Ryanair brings website into modern era
Ryanair will dispose of its clunky, out-dated website next month when it will launch a new, slicker site which will make it easier for visitors to find and book the cheapest fares.
Customers will be able to select flights according to the amount they want to spend, their travel dates and their preferred departure airport.
Fares will be bookable in just five clicks, said chief executive Michael O’Leary, who was in London to demonstrate the airline’s clutch of new initiatives.
The new site, to be launched by April 10 at the latest, will also be optimised for access from smartphones and tablets.
At the same time, the airline is launching a new booking app to replace the old app, which head of groups and corporate sales Lesley Kane described as "useless".
The new app will incorporate electronic boarding passes, so passengers will no longer need to print out a paper pass at home.
The new technology is the latest initiative by the airline which is seeking to attract more more higher spending travellers, groups and families.
It has recently introduced allocated seating, eased its restrictions on carry-on baggage and reduced its charges for checking in bags and printing out boarding passes at the airport.
