Ryanair calls for NATS boss to stand down following another system failure

Budget carrier Ryanair has again called for the removal of NATS CEO Martin Rolfe.

Rolfe should quit or be removed after another collapse of the Gatwick Air Traffic Control system at the weekend.

It delayed hundreds of flights impacting thousands of passengers at Gatwick.

The NATS system also failed in August causing widespread flight disruption.

Ryanair says it is long overdue time for CEO Martin Rolfe to stand down.

Ryanair CEO, Michael O’Leary said: “After the August NATS system failure Martin Rolfe claimed it was a 1 in 15 million tech glitch. Yet here we are again three months later.”

Thousands of passengers face long delays, diversions, and cancellations as NATS under his incompetent leadership fails again.”

“It’s time for Martin Rolfe to go.”

“Our passengers want a competent UK ATC service and Martin Rolfe has repeatedly shown he can’t deliver it.”

Consumer watchdog Which? also weighed in.

“It is unacceptable that Gatwick passengers have once again been hit by air traffic control problems after repeated issues in the last few months,” said Rory Boland, Editor of Which? Travel.

“Though compensation will not be payable as these delays are outside of airlines’ control, carriers must ensure they meet their legal obligations to look after passengers and provide them with support.”
