Saudi Arabia bans foreign Hajj pilgrims for a second year

Sunday, 15 Jun, 2021 0

Saudi Arabia has banned foreign Hajj pilgrims for a second successive year.

It will not issue any visas for foreigners but will allow up to 60,000 Saudi residents to perform the Hajj.

Only people between the ages of 18 and 65 who have received at least one Covid-19 jab and are free of any underlying illness are permitted.

The Hajj Ministry said the spread of new variants is still a major concern.

The ministry said everyone permitted to perform the Hajj must apply online.

The government said that from 1 August, vaccinations would be mandatory to enter government and private businesses, including entertainment venues, and it will also be implemented eventually on public transport at a later date yet to be determined.
