Scenic Eclipse to star in ‘Cruising with Susan Calman’ in Antarctica
Luxury vessel Scenic Eclipse and Antarctica are the stars in two upcoming episodes of ‘Cruising with Susan Calman.’
The episodes will air at 8pm on Friday 9 and 16 February on Channel 5.
Viewers will see comedian, writer and presenter, Susan Calman, sail the Antarctic peninsula on luxury Discovery Yacht Scenic Eclipse.
In April 2023, Scenic launched its second yacht, Scenic Eclipse II.
Sailing from Ushuaia on Scenic’s most popular expedition voyage, Susan will sail the Drake Passage before reaching the polar south and stepping foot onto Antarctica.
She will take the ‘Polar Plunge’, an exhilarating dip into the icy waters.
Viewers will see Susan and guests take a helicopter flight to witness the icy landscapes from above, a submersible dive on board the custom-built Scenic Neptune, and kayaking.
Wildlife spotting during the 13-day voyage includes orcas, humpback whales, sealions, chinstrap penguins and gentoo penguins.
She joins excursions led by the Scenic Discovery Team, which comprises naturalists, marine biologists, and glaciologists.
During the Antarctica expedition cruise, Susan visited the ‘End of the World Post Office’ which is in the heart of Tierra del Fuego National Park, at the southernmost tip of Argentina.
The vessel accommodates 200 guests on Antarctica expedition cruises with an almost 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio and private butler service.
Nichola Absalom, MD, sales & marketing, Scenic UK, said: “Ahead of our biggest ever Antarctica season, we’re thrilled to have Susan on board. “
“This offers Scenic a unique opportunity to showcase how a Discovery Yacht with just 200 guests is ideal for expedition cruising.”
