Scott Dunn parent appoints new director of sales

Luxury Travel Group, parent of Scott Dunn, has appointed Simon Lynch as director of sales. He will start on June 24.

Lynch joins from Abercrombie & Kent, where he has worked since 2010 overseeing the sales strategy at A&K’s UK tour operation in Cheltenham and London, including its retail, B2B Sales and VIP client division.

During that time he launched A&K’s retail agency partnerships with a number of key brands including Jaguar Land Rover, MasterCard and HSBC.

Before A&K he oversaw STA Travel’s Scandinavian business based in Stockholm.

Luxury Travel Group CEO Sonia Davies said the appointment ‘solidifies and strengthens the new senior management team’, which now includes chairman Simon McMurtrie, CMO Andre Rickerby, who joined from Moonpig in April, CFO Robin Wooldridge and global product director John Taker, who joined in April from Emirates/Dnata based in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Scott Dunn has unveiled a number of product changes under the new management team.

From the end of the 2019/20 winter season it will cease operating Scott Dunn serviced chalets in the Alps and serviced villas in the Mediterranean, which it says has been less than 10% of revenue in the UK, but a lower proportion of profit.

It will still offer a varied ski portfolio of handpicked hotels and residences in Europe, North America and Japan.

It said the decision reflects the ‘changing nature of travel’ to the Alps with hotels now offering greater flexibility and branded serviced apartments and chalets

"It will also ensure Scott Dunn can meet the increased demand from its guests and loyal ski customer base, for a wider range of resorts and accommodation options, and increased flexibility," it said.

Several new destinations have also been confirmed for 2019/20, including tailor-made itineraries and luxury product in more ‘experiential’ destinations, such as Mongolia, northern Peru and Antarctica to ‘cater to guest demand and the more adventurous modern-day traveller’.
