Six Flags expands in US with five more theme parks

Friday, 23 May, 2018 0

Theme park operator Six Flags is expanding again, this time on home soil.

It is adding five parks to its portfolio – Darien Lake in Buffalo, Frontier City and White Water Bay in Oklahoma City, Houston’s Wet ‘n’ Wild Splashtown, and Wet ‘n’ Wild in Phoenix.

Apart from the Phoenix park, all were previously part of the Six Flags years ago before they were sold off.

Six Flags has entered into a purchase agreement with affiliates of Premier Parks to acquire the lease rights at the five parks.

It takes to 25 the number of North American locations in the Six Flags portfolio.

"Today’s announcement represents another milestone in our strategic North American growth initiative to seek out park acquisitions that expand our addressable market," said Six Flags CEO and president, Jim Reid-Anderson.

"These are all fantastic properties that complement our existing portfolio and provide tremendous added value and cross-visitation opportunities."

Six Flags expects the transaction to close next month and the five additions will add about two million annual guests, based on just released 2017 theme park visitation data.
