South Australia comes to Sydney
The Grace Hotel in Sydney’s York Street became South Australia for the evening yesterday with selected members of Sydney’s Travel Agent community attending TalkSA 2006, the South Australian State Government’s Tourism Agency’s Domestic Retail Agent workshops.
TalkSA provided agents with the opportunity of being updated on improved and new product in South Australia in face to face scheduled appointments, with retail agents attending last night and ITO’s attending a whole day session today, Thursday.
While domestic destinations generally are in decline, South Australia is bucking the trend and doing well, with more and more Australians discovering the tremendous variety and depth of product South Australia has to offer, with travellers also going to agents to find out more and make their bookings.
Producers at TalkSA last night spoke about ongoing increased interest in South Australia, with Kangarooo Island becoming one of Australi’s iconic, must visit destinations for international visitors, as well known as Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef and the award winning classic route across from Victoria via the Great Ocean Road being a firm favourite with domestic and international visitors and continuing to drive visitation into the State.
Sydney agents met leading South Australian tourism operators, learning first hand what South Australia has to offer Sydneysiders, who are seeking an excellent destination, ranging from its 700,000 square kilometres of outback, its internationally renowned wineries of the Barossa and Coonawarra, South Australia’s 3,700kms of spectacular coastline and the tranquil Murray River.
Lynette Rasheed from the stunning Wilpena Pound Resort, the key to the Flinders Ranges takes a break.
The exceptional and very professional SATC team get together, from left to right – Sally Smith, Manager Trade Events, Katy Hooper, Trade Marketing Executive and Joanne Chadwick, Trade Event Coordinator (aka Princess!) – a brilliant blend.
Lorraine Oliver from the beautiful B&B, Dartmoor Homestead catches up with the programme.
