Star Clippers plans more agent training
Scottish agents have completed the first series of dedicated Star Clipper training sessions.
The company no plans further training with other UK agents and is also offering vouchers as an incentive to train online.
The niche cruise specialist welcomed 30 agents in Glasgow and Edinburgh to two dedicated training afternoons.
The two-hour sessions consisted of product training, a DVD demonstration of the Star Clipper fleet, plus a quiz with the chance to win Star Clipper merchandise.
Star Clippers’ investment in training comes as a direct result of “phenomenal growth†in bookings from agents, the company said.
The company has exceeded forecast bookings of 900 passengers with 913 retail passenger bookings already made this year.
Kelly Brooks has become Star Clippers’ on the road sales executive and Nadine Spink has been promoted to a full time sales support role in addition to her ongoing marketing responsibilities.
Brooks said: “This was a great opportunity for the Scottish travel agents to learn about Star Clippers and I am certain it has given us strong product awareness within Scotland.
“It was an efficient and cost effective way of visiting a large number of agents and was also a great way to meet new travel agencies who will hopefully generate new business.
“This type of training presentation is something new for Star Clippers and the success of the event justifies doing it again. We are already in discussions about future dates in a range of different locations, possibly including Ireland and Jersey.â€
To encourage more agents to learn about the line, the company is offering £50 high street vouchers as an incentive. Agents should visit www.starclippers.co.uk, click through to agent login, enter the password ‘Sailing’ and then complete the online training. Agents will receive their voucher on making their first booking.
