Staycations still a top choice for summer

Budget hotel brand Travelodge says staycations remain popular this summer, as people look to cut their holiday costs.

A majority (63%) of Brits have booked a summer holiday this year, a 50% increase compared to 2022.

Travelodge data finds nearly three quarters (72%) have opted for a staycation this summer.

In addition, the length of holiday has increased from an average of three days to five days.

It says spending is nearly double this year compared to 2022.

Staycationers are spending an average £1011.30 for their holiday.

The report also revealed that nearly a quarter (24%) of Britons are also breaking up their traditional two week holiday into multiple breaks.

Many are taking two staycations during the summer.

These are the findings of the 2023 Travelodge Travel Index.

It surveyed 2,000 British adults to seek their holiday preferences for this summer.

Key findings also revealed that 25% of Britons reported that a summer holiday is one of the few things they are reluctant to cut back on.

Four out of ten (41%) have planned two centre holidays at two different locations.

About 43% will spend their summer holiday at a UK coastal destination.

Cornwall tops the 2023 summer ranking with neighbouring Devon in second.
